About Us

Erica's passion for welfare-centered dog training was inspired by her dog Guenivere, a hyper-social, over-enthusiastic, 90 pound ball of energy who began to exhibit reactivity when frustrated on lead,  Erica is certified in concept training/behavior through Absolute dogs Ltd, and holds the Approved Canine Reactivity Expert certification thorough Canine Principles.  Dogs that are reactive, fearful, or have traumatic pasts are of special interest to Erica, and she not only loves to work with them here at Beyond Dog Training, but also volunteers at a local shelter providing enrichment and training to shelter dogs. She is a founding member of Nevada County Dog Consortium, an organization committed to spreading the word about evidence-based, kindness centered dog care to the pet parents of Nevada County.

If you are taking video classes with us, or are a private client, you will likely be watching these two in action, demonstrating training games and techniques.  

Guenivere is a 6 year old Mixed Breed, whose motto is "Everything is Awesome".  If you are reading this, you are already on her list of best friends.  She was the inspiration behind Beyond Dog Training, as she was 90 pounds of frustrated dog on leash when unable to greet dogs or people she saw when out and about.  Her favorite game to demonstrate- calmness on boundary

Maximus is a 2 year old Cattle Dog Cross, who very much believes everyone should mind their own business thank you very much.  He loves to go on runs and play with his sister at the local sniffspot.  His favorite game to demonstrate- all of them!
