Step 1: Prioritize Welfare and Safety
At Beyond Dog Training Auburn, the welfare and safety of you, your family, and your dog is the priority. This is why our first step is ALWAYS addressing the physical and mental health and welfare of your dog. This critical first step includes:
- Possible recommendation of vet check to identify pain or disease
- Implementation of management techniques to keep everyone safe and stress free
- Calmness plan utilizing natural behaviors to decrease stress and increase calm
- Identification of fear and stress triggers and implementation of a plan to address them
**In order to focus on your dogs mental and physical welfare and safety, all of our methods and training techniques are fear-free and pain-free. This means that we will never use or recommend aversive techniques or tools including but not limited to:
Physical force such as pushing, hitting, or dominance holds
prong collars, e-collars, choke chains, slip leads, and others
spray bottles, shaker cans, yelling, scary noises
Step 2- Teach New Skills and Concepts
Coping with the human world can be especially overwhelming for our more sensitive dogs. Our training system uses gentle techniques to teach our dog's that the world is safe. Our game-based training approach helps nervous dogs develop confidence in novel situations, grow optimism, and learn to engage happily with their owners or other people. Our thoughtful approach teaches our pups these skills through carefully planned game based play, while developing our relationship and building trust at the same time!
Step 3- Get Real Life Results!
Finally, we take all of the amazing new skills and concepts you and your dog have learned and create a very specific plan to use them reliably in the real world!
